Geneva

Before it became the watchmaking capital of the world, Geneva was once more famous for its jewellery. When societal rules imposed in Geneva essentially banned wearing jewellery, watchmakers of the time found a growing market, and were joined by jewellers who switched their trade. With so many watchmakers in the city, some moved into the nearby Jura mountains to set up shop, setting the foundations for the Swiss watch industry today. Today, Geneva is the watchmaking capital of the world, and subsequently one the best places for watch shopping, especially along the world famous Rue du Rhône - our map shows the location of boutiques and retailers to help you make the most of your visit watch shopping in Geneva. Be sure to visit the Patek Philippe Museum, too!
